TJ shortlisted as finalists for the Solent 250 Listing Awards

TJ has been shortlisted as a finalist for The Business Magazine’s Solent 250 Listing Awards in the Climate & Sustainability category. The awards evening will take place on Tuesday 29 March at the Harbour Hotel & Spa in Southampton. The evening will include a private dinner followed by the award ceremony to celebrate the special achievements of the companies shortlisted.

We were nominated for the award by our auditors, RSM UK, who have witnessed all that we do first-hand and felt we have gone above and beyond in these areas.

The award we’ve been nominated for – the Climate and Sustainability Award – recognises the achievements of businesses from the Solent 250 list who are leading the way on sustainability and have implemented environmental initiatives to reduce their carbon footprint. This includes activities such as:

  • developing a carbon reduction strategy and taking actions which have resulted in competitive advantage
  • innovation of products or services with a positive environmental impact
  • increasing environmental efficiencies of production (such as energy and water consumption or waste reduction)
  • making changes to minimise the environmental impact through the supply chain

The Solent 250 is an annual listing of the top businesses (by annual sales turnover) in the Solent region (Hampshire south of Basingstoke and parts of Dorset, Wiltshire and West Sussex). To be included in the listing, businesses need to be independent, privately-owned companies, headquartered in the region.

Managing director of The Business Magazine, Richard Thompson, said: “The judges were able to identify some cracking companies for the Solent 250 awards this year. These companies have shown exceptional capability, growth, leadership and vision. The past 12 months have been difficult for all businesses in the South, and these companies have shone through.”

TJ Waste General Manager Luke Haskell said: “We’re thrilled to have been nominated and shortlisted for this award as it’s something very close to our hearts, especially considering the industry we’re in. We always strive to do everything we can to keep our carbon footprint to a minimum and our dedication to diverting waste from landfill and recycling as much as possible is testament to that.”
